Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Certainly not. I am trying to bid 10 dollars on a hat I believe has some potential, but eBay says I am restricted to being the leader on only one auction. Does this happen to others?

That’s strange, Max. I too don’t normally bid until the very end of an auction, but I know I’ve been the high bidder on several items at the same time.

Has anybody else seen this eBay offer? What a beautiful sweatband in this Stetson pork pie. Too bad it's so small. I searched the internet for information on "Pullman Limited Edition", but couldn't find any like it elsewhere.

I saw this listed a few days ago. The photo quality was terrible (see below) and the hat was not a style I was looking for; however, it was cheap and it had a make an offer option. I offered half of the already cheap price and within five minutes the seller accepted. Now this small proportioned mystery Cavanagh is on its way for little more than the cost of shipping.

It could well be a misshapen lump of dark brown felt not worth even the little I paid for it but I had to take the chance. I’m not the only one who does this, am I?

It’s a fine hat.

I just found this Vagabond on eBay. This time I found it myself, but checked with my Senseis Bowen and Mike before buying.
Bowen said "Buy it, Buy it!" So I pressed BIN without waiting for Red to opine. $225, which Bowen says is a little overpriced, but OK. Ten dollar price tag. Seller says it is from the 1940s. Opinions?

I think that is a great score! It looks like new and with a pristine box. I don't know about Knox dating, but I would not regret that purchase!

IMO, $225 is a fair price for that one. Excellent shape Vagabound!

Now that I see it...Wow! Probably a good price in today's market. Pristine condition. I think Eric should see this one. I think his is light gray? Probably 1950s.

Hey Red:
I totally agree on all points! Last time i saw one, well i got it. I have only seen 2 in last couple years and this one appears to blow em both away.
I was gonna tell him he better hurry or i was gonna grab it just so it didn’t “get lost”.
But alas, the Doc done done it!! Lol
B
Ps: a Bantam one day and a Vagabond the next. Wonder what’s next?? Poweball ticket probably! Ha

The story of how I found my black late 50s Playboy started pretty much exactly like this.
