Asking price last week was $264. No liner and a rotten sweatband..... The price is a tad high me thinks.

(S)he further claims, more specifically, that the hat dates from the 1920s, the apparent basis for this claim being that someone sometime stuck a (very new looking) pin in it that says, "Time To Give 1926 Community Chest", as can be seen in his first, third, and fourth photographs of the hat.

I'm no expert either Anthony. I do have quite a few Mallory hats. I usually go by the liner logo to get a ball park. The sweatband on this one looks 1930's to me.

"1900s" might well be interpreted as encompassing the years 1900 through 1999, although it might mislead some people to think that it meant the years from 1900 to 1909.
Perhaps the seller might have better left the description vaguely at that.

Style wise it doesn't look older than late 1930's to me. That cotton tape decorative band started in the 1920's I think but that doesn't mean it's a twenties hat.
