Thanks tommyk - here is the bow - ribbon has a wrinkle in it. White looking spot on edge is smudge that rubbed off.

"Emerson hats are truly exquisite. Very good quality hats for sure!"

Thanks very much - I was lucky to get it. I posted some additional photos on the "Emerson Hats" topic - I'd post them here too but Photobucket takes away my will to live with its freezing after every copied photo.

As I troll around on eBay, I frequently try different combinations of hat brands and try to see what is "newly listed". Turns out two Borsalino hats in my size had just been listed with very reasonable BIN pricing, so I pulled the trigger. One was described as dove grey and the other as charcoal. Here are some pics the seller took of them.

It looks like I'll be joining the Borsalino Brotherhood pretty soon. ;)

Went for this one at the last second. I love me a blue hat, and i've been looking for a replacement ever since I parted ways with a similar but far too big stratoliner in an identical robins egg blue.

Very few vintage Stetsons sell for this much. Desirable size, desirable model, desirable era (OPA) and a few willing to pay to win it make for an exciting auction. I could share a similar disbelief on current production Stetsons, but I won't go there.

An OPA era VitaFelt Whippet in 73/8?

Yep that would fetch a good price.

On the whole, vintage Stetsons are a pretty good deal compared to the modern ones.
