Follow-up on the $49 shipping charge
Well, it seems the gentleman wasn't paying attention to the process and paid with a credit card; didn't realize the charge until it was too late. He told me he'd learned the lesson to pay attention and to forget it, and enjoy the hat.
The hat arrived today, and it was very carefully packed with a nice Thank you card inside. It is in need of a bit of cleaning, but it's a beautiful hat with a very tall crown - the blue Dobbs that Lefty posted a few pages back and I replied with a bit of info regarding the original owner.
All that taken in consideration, I went ahead and sent on an additional $12 for the heck of it. (And yes, the postage was printed on the box and was what he said it was.) Hey, it's not every day you get the chance to own a hat that belonged to one of the operators of the Havana Hilton Casino in the late 1950s!

My curiosity overcame my better judgment. At least I didn't pay a lot for what could be a junk hat. I think I April Fooled myself.
