An unexpected turn of events moments ago when I happened to stumble across a newly posted, year-old, moonstone Akubra Fed IV Deluxe in my size. The opening bid was a steal, but figuring that would shoot up once folks started to notice (i.e. fellow loungers ), I snatched it for the buy-in-now price, which was still significantly lower than the current price plus shipping at Hats Direct. This is turning out to be a great Friday ...

I was going to wait to see if it got any bids first, but thinking about it over lunch, figured it might not last long, so I rushed back to work and grabbed it. I lucked out on a brown Fed III Deluxe listed about a month ago -- ended up winning the ensuing bidding war that lasted right down to the wire. It's my new favorite hat -- but now I'll wait for the moonstone and see what I can do with the bash ...
