I had my eye on that Mallory - but I didn't want to try to squeeze my 7 1/2 cabeza into a 7 1/4 hat.

I hope one of our good guys got it!
Had that ribbon been thinner, I would've stayed in a tad longer = congrats, nice buy!carter said:'Twas I!
Same here, may have stayed in had it been a gray but doubt it, went way past my threshold...portolan said:I sure hope somebody here won it. I bid and bid until I reached my self imposed limit........Great hat.....

I called the seller of the Briggs in Denver this morning and had a lovely conversation. Her husband is a retired physician who now works at the VA hospital in Denver where they relocated after he retired. She opened an antique shop and has been doing so well on ebay that they have downsized their brick & mortar shop. A native of Germany, she found the hat in Wiesbaden and brought it back to the US where it ended up in her shop as it is too large for her husband. As you can tell, we had a long conversation.Dumbjaw said:I wanted to try for this 7 5/8 Briggs but there was a reserve, and I really can't stand reserve prices. Even so, it didn't actually sell, though I think the bidding reached a fair amount. I don't think this seller has much experience selling hats.
