Too big for me, Randooch, but as the seller says my ears will hold it up
I can understand that
I must say it is quite interesting to see the story develop into a very decent bit of research.
Forgive me if I sound naive but why do you say ads should be considered with caution? is it because, in this case, Hartmann's could have said they're sterling just to improve their sales?
My guess is they were basing that idea on the sticker size tag. Could be right, too. What dates it to 1930?
Thank you. I suspected it could be the case, since it is the only element readily accessible if you do not want to carbon-date the thing
All I know is, anyone that wears that hat should be ready to be called a "basket case."
Thanks! I think this one is from the mid to late 50s. I believe the brim width is at least 2 3/8 inch probably wider. The flange is really curved (which I like) so it might give a shorter appearance. When I receive it I will take some photos with the brim snapped.
I just won this older size 60cm Echter Mayser. It appears to have a really nice finish (highest quality) plus very good condition. Also interesting binding stitching. Don't see many of these especially in larger sizes.
