Hairy Borsalino from eBay

This one went for a lot less than the blue one. It arrived at my house today. More on the Borsalino Brotherhood:

It's soft and squishy. A brief session with the steamer straightened out a crease that was awry and I tacked down the lining, which was floating loose. It's all ready for cooler weather - and so am I!

I consoled myself by picking up this one for a more modest sum:

Ta Sue. It's yet to be seen if it fits me! The tag size is Italian 5 1/2 (like the stratospheric blue one above) so I'm hoping it's US 7 1/4ish (my size). The stated measurements from the seller are a bit confusing though - so I'll just have to wait in hope.

And yep Bob - my bank account could cope with that one. The postage to Australia often adds another US$30 -$35 dollars to the price - though I've had some kind folk manage to get a boxed hat to me for around US$15! I rise up and call them blessed!

I was about to bid on that one but I spent a few more on a Knox foxhound I actually end up winning. I didn't like the hat (brim's too short for my taste) but I have a restoring project concerning its sweatband and my grandpas only hat. You guys might kill me but, as soon as it gets home, I'm going to have to butcher it. Well not really. I am going to take the leather band off and sew it my old man's hat. Grandpa is so excentric that he wouldn't wear any other hat but his ancient oxblood knox foxhound that is so old the sweat is falling apart. I will attach a plain black leather band to the ebay Knox and maybe put it up for trade. If anyone thinks they might be interested in it even though it won't have the original sweat PM me. I paid some money for it but grandpa's 92nd B-day is coming up soon and he's worth that and more. (he also had me erase a name printed in gold from the sweatband of his ancient panama. Did it with zippo fluid thanks to the advise of fellow loungers in another thread.)
