That's me in the middle but if I can get my head into a Whippet for $22.50 I'll make a deal with the devil to be the guy on the right .

lol lol lol Head shrinking for a low cost Whippet. The lengths this hat drives people to is amazing.

Ahhh, the allure of the Whippet.

Great, another type of Stetson I need to search for. How am I going to keep this all straight?:eusa_doh:

Its not easy; the only way I remember my name address, and phone number is because of shipping needs!

Thats big money for a nice looking but not finely woven hat(Cuenca?) Pedigree seems to have made a full range of straw types and quality levels.

So it seems.

It appears that, except for this Panama (?) and your 'Genuine Tweed' , Pedigree is virtually undocumented here on the Lounge.

I "needed" (;) ) a black fedora to go with a vintage black sheared muskrat coat I wear on the few frigid days we have. This one appears to be immaculate except that the sweatband and lining have seen some use. It has that extra plastic between the sweatband and the lining. Just a little dust that brushed off easily:

Just got this Portis:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360182441436&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

:eusa_doh: Thought I had it for chicken feed but at the last minute it got really popular!

While not really a big fan of stingy brims I figured it might make a good daily beater.
My only concern is the size,...I hope it's 7 3/8s and not 22 1/2".

Does anyone know when Portis quit making hats?

The Portis family started making hats on the south side of Chicago in 1913 and were reportedly turning out 1,000,000 hats a year in 1939.
