Another eBay gripe and defeat: This Open Road was sold as being a size “7 5/8 to 7 7/8”. I should have known it was too good to be true.

Back it goes...unless someone here wants it for $150 plus shipping. It needs a cleaning and a new ribbon so for a size 7 1/8 it isn’t much of a deal.

Bummer. It would fit my wife and/or daughter but as you say it's not much of deal in that size...

Whenever you see 7 7/8 it's a sure bet that the seller has taken a ruler to the inside opening and assumed that that measurement equals the hat size.

I wasn’t surprised that the seller had the size wrong. The range was odd for sure. Still, hope springs eternal and at my size I sometimes jump on them just in the remote chance...and it has worked out a few times.

I’ve also had them measure the opening at the sweat band at 8 1/4 by 7 1/2 and the hat turned out to be a size 6 7/8! Obviously the measurements were not accurate. Now if I was a size 7....

I expect if it gets hot enough, an Ostrich will sweat. Great hat Michael.

Bob at Black Sheep Hatworks offers "ostrich" sweats but they are stamped leather. Looking at my ostrich boots wouldn't the little quill nubs on real ostrich leave indents in your forehead?

Any leather sweat is going to be skived out thinner than your boots are. Ask any leather worker about skiving.

Ostrich is super soft and cupel , it must be an upgrade . When I typed Ostrich Sweat it struck me funny , and I cracked up .
