Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

As far as I know, it's one of only two on the Lounge. Here's Tony's:

My Stetson Stratoliner finally showed up, so I thought I'd gather my two aviation-themed lids and show 'em off.

The Stratoliner was named for the first pressurized airliner, as we all know. Mine is unlined, and has what appears to be a $6.50 price tag inside the sweatband. If that's what it is, it's the lowest price tag I've seen on any of my vintage hats. It's a dark chocolate brown. The felt is fairly stiff but it feels nice. The condition is almost new, no wear on the sweatband at all.

Per hat, that's a pretty good deal. Plus, now you've got the memory of someone actually marketing their auction with this photo.

Interesting Green fuzzy one there at the bottom. I'd be interested to see who the manufacture is if anyone here scored that lot.

Two Strats just sold7 3/8 for 223.50 with the fantastic sweat and crown markings that I've only seen on Tony in wherever's Strat

7 1/4 for 140.50

And thanks, one and all! I knew that this style of Strat was rare, and didn't recall seeing Tony's (thanks for the reminder, Lefty!) and with that color I had to go for it. I think I'm going to have to cool the hat-buying spree a bit now! (At least, after the ones I've got snipers pending on are done, anyway... )

Thanks, but I'd have still got it. I had mine set north of $250. When I decide I really want a hat, I go for it! Well, not quite. Truth be told, I actually thought I'd be outbid on it.

As for the pin, this was the first 4-engined TWA pin I've spotted since I started looking, but the twin-engined ones pop up fairly frequently.

I thought this unworn JC Penney's Marathon in 7 1/4 would've gone higher being that it was never worn and included the original box. $30.10 shipped is a steal. I have a friend who wears 7 1/4 and tried to win it for him but was sniped at, literally, the very last second.

^^I watched it, Dumbjaw, but as it's got a stingy brim and most stingies don't look good on me at the moment I gave it a pass. I did consider bidding just for the cool pin, though!

No clue. For me, there was far too little information to spend too much more for those hats. I know DJ likes them, but I'm not a fan of the Brooks Brothers hats, so that would turn me off to at least (I think it was) two of the lot right away.
