Our Japanese friends are very dedicated to very cool clothes. They make some brilliant (if frustratingly difficult to buy) stuff.
Unfortunately, in pushing the boundaries, they also turn out a few disasters.

Hence, this jacket.....

If you believe the hype created by the Levi PR machine from the 1980's onwards, I guess you would think that.

The facts that many of the modern aspects of Jeans were introduced by Wrangler after WW2, and the archetypal modern Jean Jacket was developed by Lee at around the same time (and Levi had to redesign their jackets in order to compete, but lost huge amounts of sales because of their inertia) were carefully airbrushed out of the "Levi legend".

In the UK, the PR folk managed to even ignore the fact that 501s were largely unavailable in the retro periods depicted in the ads. In the 60s, button fly was a step too far for the UK, so 502s (with a zip fly) were the ones sold to us.

But hey, who gives a sh*t about facts in the PR game?

As long as the kids believe it (and they did!!), it's cool:D;)
