I certainly have a love/hate relationship with German. I’ve been wrestling with the language my entire life. I don’t so much mind the long words. It is the complicated and irregular grammar that is confounding. But it’s my experience that German speakers are quite forgiving when I slur or fudge my endings. I did German at school Tom, I know a little, when you compare some words theyre very like old English ie Saxon, others, seem to use half the alphabet for one expression haha Schwimmweste for example is self explanatory

Sadly, average omnibus here doesn't give you the translation of electronic announcement, leaving tourist clueless in the moment.
Don't know, if there are any smartphone gadgets, helping tourists.

Not much different on rail companies, here. Newest city trams are more modern level.

Important for tourists:

A german public transportation "Hopper Ticket" (to and back option) is especially interesting for tourists.

You get one ride to your P.O.I and one ride back. Usually including city trams and busses!
