Hi everyone, I am new here and this is my first post. I have read and learned about A-2`s from you guys so here is a question.I am looking at a Eastman Roughwear contract # 42-1401p. It is of russet horsehide. It does not have Property of Air Forces US Army on the tag,it has no AN stamp on the lining and the stiching is a medium brown. Is this a civilian A-2 or made for the Air Force before 1941? Did guys wear this model during the war? I know Jimmy Stewart wore a 1401P but was it a differnt issue? I just want to know if I shell out the bucks for this is it a USAAF jacket that would have been worn during the war in the ETO? Thanks for your experts help!-Crazyace

Welcome to the forum. The ELC 1401-P is very close repro of this late 1941 contract. It would not have property of Air Forces US Army on the spec label then as it was the US Army Air Corp and not used on A2 contracts. Originals had a small inspector's stamp on the lining and ELC reproduces it, but not the larger USAAF stamp as it was not used until after 1942. BTW the 1401-P jacket was worn extensively in the War!

Thank you Andrew for the reply. You are the one I hoped would. So as I described ,the details seem correct ? And if I understand this 42-1401P would have been produced in late 1941? Good to know. Thanks again!- crazyace
