About 11 years ago someone here had these great simple thin plastic dust covers.
I bought 100 of them.
They had a space for the crown and went out to cover the brim.
Perfect for putting over a hat when in box storage so the cardboard ring is not directly touching the felt.

All I can find now are these versions with elastic that cover the entire hat like a shower cap … awful

Anyone have a source to something like what I described above?

Looking forward to hearing from you

If you come up with a source, please let me know. I've been looking for some for years.

I ordered a bunch of plastic protectors from Capas when I got some boxes, haven't checked them out yet but it was 100 and I sure don't need that many (I think lol). Am on vacation but can see what they're like when I get home and I'll get in touch with ya.

Is Capas the correct choice for hat boxes? I’ve been thinking about this but I haven’t done anything about it yet. Do you have to call them to order a case?

They're good solid boxes. I'm not sure how easy it is to buy them as a member of the general public, I had to give a business tax ID number since I bought them for packaging hats I'd like to sell. But maybe you can still buy them and just need to pay tax?

It's surprisingly hard to source new hat boxes for a reasonable amount of money (like $30 a box seems exorbitant for a cardboard box, especially if you're willing to buy in bulk). Levine hats was the only place I found that seemed reasonable and I almost purchased from them but I wanted to buy un-branded boxes.

I bought one of those Levine boxes and sent an email to Capas.
