I have heard about this before it's been around for a while I think.

I always thought that Prime Minister Baldwin and his cabinet said they would resign if Edward VIII if married Mrs. Simpson. This would have removed the monarch's removal from the political system because it would have forced a general election.

There seems to be various possible reason for the governments feelings on this, this could have been a factor.

Queen Elizabeth II is commonly believed to hate any mention the Duke of Windsor* because she believes his abdication led to her father's early death once he had become king.

This is why the Queen will never abdicate.

*(She also hates milk puddings)

So was he a sympathiser? Probably at the beginning, but I don't know how far that went.

I had a vintage book titled "Nazi Germany Explained" published about 1935, it gave glowing reports of a "Nirvana"..... hey no one told us about the global crash of 2008?
