To that, I would agree!...

I've got a great solution for all of this. Don't deport Dog to Mexico. Don't put him in prison. Send him to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Make him go find Osama bin Laden and other Taliban/Al Quaeda brass. .

...And I'll bet he would too!! :eusa_clap My bet is on 'Dog'!... no doubt he would accomplish that mission and bring in his man - for a fraction of the cost too!

I do believe that Duane Chapman has stated that Osama is his next big target! ;)

Mexico was harboring a sexual terrorist. Our man brought him to justice. If a silly Mexican law was broken then he ought to have his hands slapped. No extradition. Mexican law is ridiculous. Our politicians and diplomats can persude Mexico to back off or stall this for years until Mexico does the right thing. Treaty obligations are always negotiable and subject to negotiation. There are moral obligations that trump law and sometimes order. In this country judges have discretion in sentencing - "suspended sentence", "time served" etc. Juries do something called "nullification". These responses to law-breaking are an application of justice. So Dog does an excellent thing and breaks a few rules in the process. In justice, one should not throw him to the "dogs" that is the Mexican judicial system. Slap his hand and then shake it for a job well done.

God Bless America!

.

Awesome. The sight of a large man with a mullet chasing him in a fishnet shirt will surely drive Osama to surrender.

Look, Mr. Chapman did it the wrong way. If he really didn't want to get thrown into a Mexican jail cell, he ...

1. should have gone to Mexico without a camera crew. All that publicity forced the Mexican police to pretend to do their job.

2. should have bribed the Mexican police (more). Even the drunkest frat boy on spring break in Ensenada knows this.

Let's be real for a moment. At most, Dog will end up serving 6 months in a Mexican prison reserved for wealthy offenders. Like his fellow inmates, he'll bribe the guards, the warden, and anyone else who can make his time there comfortable.

Six months later, he's out of there and back in the U.S.A., where a big fat TV/radio/movie/whatever contract will be waiting for him.

And that's the unvarnished truth.

I can't help but wonder if Mexico is pursuing this more because of bruised egos than broken laws. Chapman succeeded where they failed while America watched.

Mexican Law (in my own words):

Like German law ca. 1936 - looks good in writing
Like current Iranian law - looks good in writing (did you hear their President Ghandi's speech yesterday?)
Like Cuban law - looks good in writing (their Geo. Washington is in his - what - 12th term of office?)
Like soviet law - looks good in writing (if you were alive to read it)
Like...etc.

The law is fine really. Unfortunately (for the Mexicans mostly) is is not enforced, prosecuted or adminstered fairly, nor judiciously nor efficiently.
It is an accident of history perhaps, but the United States is the best thing going these days. Our sister country - UK - is maybe a runner-up but a distant runner-up. Next, I'll post a seperate thread on their respect for free speech.
