Fellow loungers,do you have any tips or hints for driving Miss Daisy with a fedora on?.
It is very irritating with the headrest behind my hat:fedora:

Headrests are suppose to be as tall as the back of your head, not in the neck area. While I hate my grim hitting the headrest, they are so designed to prevent whiplash in an accident.

Not much that you can really do, if you are concerned with safety.

Now see folks, this is why you need to drive a Vintage car, one designed when hats were worn while motoring.

I myself have no problem at all while driving.

Take comfort in the fact its the actual headrest behind your hat and not a good 1/4 of the bucket seat. :rage: ;)

The headrest down as far as it will go,and I do like the idea of having support behind my head to prevent whiplash.
I guess that I will have to grin and bear it or go topless lol in the car.

wear you hat unless it is a big aggravation...the pain in replacing the hat would be a lot less than the pain in your neck.

How many times!

The only solutions I have found are: Throw it on the seat beside you, OR tip the brim up in front, down in back. Learned that from Barnie Fife, Mayberry USA. Guess I really dont need to wear it while driving. PS - Leave the headrest where its at!!!

Evening Pete - Perhaps the problem stems from a mismatch between the hat and the mission.

If you're Driving Miss Daisy, then you don't want a Fedora, you want a Chauffeur's Cap. With the brim only in the front, the Chauffeur's Cap is less likely to bend out of shape against the seatback or headrest. Yes - form follows function.

The Fedora clad passenger rides in the back.
