Drake Deluxe Fedora

I just picked this one up on eBay. I've never heard of Drake hats, but it certainly looks vintage. Can anybody help me place the era? It has that "been there, done that" look, and I think it'll be a fun hat. I didn't pay too much for it, anyway.

That's a great-looking lid. From the photos, it looks to be in nice shape, and good quality too.

Looks like a good find there, Tarzana. Have you considered doing a bit of do-it-yourself rehabilitation on it? Judging from those photos, it looks like a naptha bath and a stitch or two would sharpen it up quite a bit.

I've thought about that, but playing around with naptha scares me a little, and I like the "lived in" look the hat has. I did give it a thorough brushing.

I'm afraid I'm too much of a klutz to attempt stitching. My Lock & Co. fedora from Marc needs to have the sweatband restitched, but I think I'll leave that to a pro. I may send it to Art along with my Open Road. The Lock is absolutely perfect otherwise. (Thanks again, Marc, I really do love it!)

But, who knows, I may take your advice eventually.

I like it too. I bought my first 1911 in 1975 and I've always had at least two of them since then. I didn't get my first fedora until about 1990. That's a nice hat you have there.

I had my eye on that one for a bit too. Nice land there. I like the informal look of it and the bound brim (I am a big fan of boundedges...not sure why) it looks really nice on you..

Thanks, everybody. I'm like a kid with a new toy, got my Olympus SP-500UZ after wanting a digital camera for years, and I went a little nuts. Baron, thanks for the kind words about my budding photography skills.

I also went a bit nuts on eBay. I think I have a hat for every mood now. I don't have a top hat or a bowler, but every other base is covered.

My 1911 is a cheapo Armscor from the Phillipines, I've fired over 1000 rounds through it and it's high time for an upgrade. I'm trying to decide between a Kimber and a Springfield Armory. I've shot a Kimber, and even though it was a gun range rental and well-used, it was a sweet shooter. Then again, Springfield makes a mil-spec looking 1911 that appeals to the retro in me.

Magus, you got the Borso and I got the Drake. Anytime you wanna trade... lol

I'm just glad that a Lounger got that Borsalino, and that it went to a loving home. Wear it in good health!

That's a good looking lid.

I think you'll probably like either the Kimber or SA equally well. But, I use an old Colt Governement Model.

It's amazing how much fun you can have with a digital camera and some collection pieces you want to share/brag on a little lol
