I got it secondhand, so it could be one of the first ones they ever made for all I know. There’s a good leather repair shop near me, I’ll see what they can do.
Worse case they can replace it, but I’d be curious to see if they can repair it somehow. Good luck!

I wore my jacket out in the rain yesterday and it became quite stiff in the shoulders. The evaporating moisture likely drew out some of the oils.

Do you guys recondition your jackets after wearing them in the rain?

Just let it dry naturally, most modern quality leather jackets will never need reconditioning. Wearing it regularly should work the stiffness out.

I condition my jackets only after having worn them for 100+ days, which often takes years, taking into account how many I own..

I mentioned the zipper failure to Kimura and he offered to use a nylon tape zipper on the new jacket rather than cotton tape.

Hello TFL family! I didn't want to start a new thread and hope it is ok to share my newest (hopefully last) jacket order from the Double Helix Works in this thread.

I have 2 black and 1 chestnut leather jackets and wanted a 4th, a type 3 in non black and initially wanted it in some brown or burgundy. Based on the wonderful reviews here I decided to take a shot and emailed DHW and after about 8 emails back and forth, I said to myself I am definitely gonna order from them. I have emailed other jacket makers and usually after 2 or 3 emails, they stop responding, nothing but crickets. Kimura responded everyday and always were so kind and accommodating. Next level customer service for sure!

I ended up ordering the Western Pioneer (size 38) in dark indigo. They CAN add two external pockets for a fee but I decided against it and instead got an additional interior pocket. I even asked him if an iphone 15 can fit in this pocket and he said yes! I was seriously considering the regular indigo color but then someone mentioned smurf and that made up my mind.

When we went to Japan Aug 2025, I wanted to visit DHW and the one place I thought was the headquarter (maybe a stockist?) was closed so I never got the chance. Did pick up the RMC j100 and I still wear it regularly and the zippers all still work!

I will do a separate unboxing thread when it arrives. 60 days! Hoping less but I can wait.

I'm getting ready to order a Rider Unus and would like opinions on something...I'm going with brass (gold) hardware. It comes standard with brass hardware but with a nickel (silver) pocket snap, so it's mixed metals. I asked if the snap could be swapped for brass to match the other metals and they said yes, so I was planning on doing that. But now I'm wondering...would the mixed metals look cool? I'm guessing they must have chose that look for a reason. Should I do that, or should I do the snap in brass so it all matches?

My Innovator (and I believe the original Buco J24) came with mixed hardware. Personally, I dig it. But go with what you like.

I just got confirmation my custom burgundy moto is finished. I'll post up some pics asap!

I personally love DH from a bang for buck perspective.
