Actually that is a good question for this and future TFL account breaches.

A hacker would guess or break a password and then setup MFA/2Factor Auth on the TFL they have just gained control of. If the original owner of the account tried to change the password they would in fact be unable to change it (since the hacker would now “own” it).

The only way for the original owner to gain control of their account again would be to prove that they are who they say they are to the TFL Admin(s).

I understand all the concerns. I had to change my password to stop the foul language kid from posting under my account. Whether you believe it is me or not, dont buy anything listed under my name. I have nothing for sale.

It seems to have been added now (or already was and nobody noticed), in case someone wants to enable it.

My personal recommendation is to use a password manager. If OP got caught in 3 different places, I would just assume it is due to using the same password in the three of them. Just keep your password manager and let it create random passwords such as _gò?·¯7'Ʊö44æEÐ:«W_, each different for each site.
