Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

Yes.
Banks close up you lose your cash. Not sure about anyone else on that matter but my money has a value to me to be in a safe place and not just "gone" due to bank closures.
Well now no shock to me my Bank was in fact, closed today! I had an insurance overpay check that needed to be deposited, I had to call a number and give the manager some strong lanuage to get them to open the door, take my check and deposit it and then come back with a receipt. As soon as that check clears, I am pulling that money out. I am thinking another Depression is perhaps, already here.

Closed as in not letting the general public enter or closed as in shut down for good? The former is keeping in line with social distancing. Most banks permit customers to make deposits with mobile apps or drive-though tellers and by appointment.

My bank's lobby has been closed for weeks now, but the drive-thru is still active, and the ATM in the foyer is there to deposit checks or withdraw petty cash. And under the widespread lockdown orders now in effect, yelling at the manager will get you nothing but a visit from a cop -- who will tell you to shut up and go home.

Correct. It is here now.
Keynesian notions cannot alter basic economic truths by a simple cross diagram or prime the pump mantra
when unemployment levels soar and far too much profligacy ensues following massive federal intrusion within
global capital markets amidst lower GDP, which results in a cheapening of the American dollar and soaring inflation.
The recent stimulus bill and printing press dollar manufacture against $1625 Gold/$27 Sweet Light Crude spell
DEPESSION in large block letters. The American/global economy cannot absorb that hit.
Secondly, while morality cannot be excised from the COVID19 economic equation, a Machiavellian advocatus diabelli
solution to counter the above forecast is to open the national economy lock, allowing biologic evolve to occur,
and not flooding the United States and the world with cheap paper currency. Cold blooded logic, of course.
But Machiavelli opined that cruelty is best done first, all at once with dispatch. The late Paul Volker raised interest
rates several decades ago to kill inflation-a cruel but necessary solution. Either way, the proverbial bullet is bit.:(

Right. Also, yelling at employees who still have to work (so they are already stressed and nervous) and demanding they have close contact is putting everyone at risk. These precautions are in place for good reason!

Whether you call it depression or recession matters not, the global economy will take a huge hit. When we finally re-open again, it won't be like flicking a light switch on the economy. There are going be people who are not comfortable sitting in a crowded cinema, theatre or ballroom anymore. People of a certain age, diabetics or asthmatics will feel uneasy going to crowded restaurants, probably for a very long time. And what about public transport? Getting on a bus, train or plane isn't going to be easy either. Confidence will be so badly hit that the entire hospitality and entertainment industry could be in the doldrums for decades. It will probably start to recover when today's babies are adults, they won't have the endemic fear that's inevitably in us all.

No visits from any "cops" but I did get my check negotiated. Made plans with them to make draws from my account (they can only give so much cash at a time) to close out my account.

The "logical" talk of reopening the economy and letting the disease fall where it may leads to an obvious question: who here is willing to die, right now, for the sake of the economy? Who here is willing to step up and make the supreme sacrifice for the greater glory of the Gross National Product? Who here is ready to volunteer to choke to death on their own lungs for the holy sake of Mammon? Step up, don't be shy. Have the courage of your convictions.

Have to ask are the real numbers worse from this virus then say, vodka related deaths, death by bad doctors, car wreck deaths or drug overdose or even the other "flu" that has already claimed many many times over a death number then this virus this year? If no one returns to work,...depression is not even close to what will happen in the long run...no internet nor cell phones nor stores nor insurance nor stores to buy any goods no schools or churches nothing...nada. I already work from home so for a while I am good to go...but if I worked in an office, I would not hesitate to be there at all...I can wear a mask as I do now to satisfy the politically correct fearful crowd. Many other flu bugs and things have been here for this year and actually for many years...but hey, let this virus be the icing on the cake of having our world fall apart over any other sickness we have already had.

Germany is actually crashing it's economy by stupid inflexible restrictions. This will be a commercial chaos.

Thanks, bureaucratic state!

Is here Cholera and Plague going on, or what?

Like all the conspiracy theorists said in the past:
2020 will be next-level-shit!

BUT:
I tell you, next federal election in Germany will be a memorable happening!!

Right. I couldn't agree more.
As I stated morality cannot be excised out of the Covid19 equation. Meliorative attempt to prematurely unlock
may occur should societal countenance demand address, patience wane, demand need insist. This is speculative,
not suggestive.

I was informed they will be sending out information to accounts by mail, as it appears they will be forced to shut down for good and will be moving financial loans/credit to someone else to handle.

Hegel fled Frankfurt-and so did Schopenhauer during a cholera epidemic, returned before Schopenhauer, and died.
Schopenhauer made a more belated return and survived the adversary. Perhaps a lesson for our present time.

Weimar and its inflationary downward spiral harken economic lessons also.

There is no internet, no cell phones, no stores, no insurance, no schools, and no churches in the grave. And yes, a disease that has a 1 in 100 chance of killing you is a lot worse than "the flu."

The thing with a pathogen like this is that it couldn't give a ******* about your politics. It kills regardless of whether you think precautions are political correctness run rampant or not. It kills regardless of who you vote for. It kills regardless of what religion you believe in. It kills regardless of whether you think there's no way it could kill you or not. It kills, it could kill me, and it could kill *you* just as easily as it kills some random person you never heard of. Because the pathogen doesn't give a ******* if you take it seriously or not.

Human beliefs are completely irrelevant to a threat like this. A lot of people who never thought this could kill them are dead now, and a lot more will be before it's over.

Taking this serious as stated about anyone willing to step up to the plate...we live in a free society and the word FREEDOM always has had a price tag no matter what. My Family (as my late Husband) was more then willing to serve and protect that same freedom that most enjoy in the USA...so if it takes a sacrifice to keep the USA free, even from virus, then no matter what political arena anyone harbors with, Patriots will stand for keeping our freedom. Loss is nothing new to me, in many forms along the way on life. If the virus for some is already the victor and to not see all the other flu bugs and evidence of death that already outnumbers this virus by many times over, then I would say sadly, some have no hope to succeed beyond their own fears. So far in all the people I personally know, death has come into their life by anything but a virus that has already been in the USA since the first of this Year....the numbers from other sources of death makes this virus be a lot less deadly then even what the experts suggest at present.

I do also consider myself a Patriot...to some that may be a negative trait not politically correct. So yes I would be willing to work or do what it takes to keep this great Nation going including a death by virus.

Knowing how society may react to the mass panics on the near horizon made me step up being very well prepared. I am helping others in my family and friends circle also be well prepared.

This pandemic, in addition to creating a mask shortage, really has a way of taking the masks off of others so that their true colors show. It's hard to believe that there are people who still feel that their sense of entitlement trumps the rights of others. Even more alarming is that when we all have access to scientific studies, journals and experts that they are dismissed as some kind of political correctness.

The virulence of this particular bug is lethal however the bacillus core structure apparently remains stable.
COVID19 seems not to mutate with strain indigenous to Asia, Europe, North America evidencing exactitude
instead of rampant mitosis gestation which would elude prophylaxis or narcotic solution. Its resilience is of limited
duration yet still an enigma, a scourge to be respected but probably not invincible.

It is easy to say but do not let this bug get you down. :)

As a Patriot who comes from a family of veterans and was married to an active duty Marine, I am offended that you use such noble words to defend your position. Of course we both have our rights to our opinions, but we don't have the right to disregard government mandates in place to protect lives to prove a point.

Maybe the question shouldn't even be are *you*, meaning any one specific person, willing to die For The Economy. It should be "how many people are *you* willing to *kill* for the sake of The Economy." Because that's the real risk of this -- every person promiscuously spreading it about because they think it's all just a joke has the chance of passing the infection on to any number of others, at least some of whom, statistically speaking, are likely to die from it. Who are you willing to kill for the sake of The Economy? Somebody's grandmother? Somebody's dad? Somebody's child? Me?

The ancient Hebrew principle of bloodguilt comes to mind here.

You made mention of studies we should look upon. right? Well lets us look at some facts...Covid virus this year as of late March 2020 450,000 illness and 20,500 deaths world wide....but wait...normal flu in the USA this year as of late March...38 million hospitalized, 23,000 deaths...just in the USA.

As for not abiding government mandates, who is the government, THEM or WE the people? I can count on myself being a Patriot and no politically correct part of anything is going to change that. My real fear is the politically correct is going to be the real death of humanity and not those of us that are still williing to not merely roll over and play dead already.
