I wear Dickies brand chino's alot , No Pleats and No cuff, But they come with a nice crease that seems to stay pretty long even through machine wash and dry...

I prefer the newer creased look but continue to wear them well past that stage...

Creasing cotton drillcloth 'khaki'-colored(or similarly-colored) pants: Do so when necessary(uniform or non-casual appearance). Otherwise, don't concern yourself with it. If they're creased, they're creased. If not, eh, they're drillcloth. Iron the crease back in as circumstances dictate it.

...it's one of those things that one shouldn't be overly concerned with.

A color does not casual make.

Orgetorix: Thank you for scratching that itch.

I have the same problem after a few hours on the Lounge my wife gets curious. I hate to lie but when she asks "Are you still talking about fedoras and hats?" I say "No, it's porn, really." and hide the screen.
I hope she hasn't caught on. Uh oh, she just got home. I better sign off.

lol

I know what you mean!

Chinos, or khakis, are casual wear, to be worn on weekends or while doing yardwork. Don't even get me started on "business casual" Capitoline permanent-press Dorkers and their ilk....

So my vote would be no, no creases for chinos. Strikes me as akin to creasing blue jeans *shudder*

The only crease that should appear on a pair of khakis or chinos is from being folded.

It's a cotton pant, and by nature a casual pant. I like to refer to them as 'acceptable jean alternatives' -- so treat them as you would jeans.

Unfortunately, however, there are a few of us on this wonderful board who have not the money to purchase expensive wool/gabardine slacks at a whim. In order to make up for our lack of monetary funds, we are relegated, at least for the time being, to purchasing cotton khakis, to blend them with our sport jackets and to iron in firm, starched creases.

It may be "business casual", it may be as abhorrent as satin notched lapels on a 3 button dinner jacket, but I can tell you with certainty, it's a step in the right direction. ;)

I do have a light crease after ironing. Nothing major. Since I have some pairs with pleats, those do tend to have a longer crease so the pleats will lay correctly.

I've never seen the big deal about cotton trousers with creases. I wear them like I do any odd trouser. If I wanted trousers to "slub" around in, well, they would be from Goodwill. Or on sale from Gap or something. There's an increasing trend of constructing and wearing khakis like jeans. Good or bad thing? Not sure. The ones I own are made like suit trousers.

I am not sure but creased pants are okay decades ago but not in today's time. That's from my point-of-view, though. So, no, I don't put creases on my pair of pants.

I may be old fashioned but putting a crease in your pants and getting a fresh shoe shine are just some of the things that just make you feel good, it really is just the little things... lol

I am not sure if you noticed but .. most of the people here love the style from "decades ago".:p

Plus: The threads you comment are already vintage too. How did you even find some of them? Used the search or read them all?

Just saying...
