Thanks everybody

HBK Ive used an extra tight egyptian cotton fabric I bought here. http://www.hovedsmann.no/products/bomull-egyptisk-seglduk

Its 270g and very stiff in the beginning, but after a few washes and some wear its great. I cant seem to find good tightly woven stuff elsewhere. This is meant for cotton sails.

I also tea dyed it and it looks darker in reality than in the pictures.

Heres some more details.

Yeah, but not voluntarily. The seams of these jackets tend to match the lining or match the leather. I decided to go for the same color as the lining.

However the dye didnt get as dark as it should, so the seams looked way too light on the jacket. Ive gone over with polish and darkened the threads.

Ill get some saddle soap later and clean it off some more, except on the thread.

Good eye

It must be quite a learning experience. Every jacket you make from now on will be an improvement on the last one. That's one fine "beginner" jacket, though.

Here is the pattern i made if anyone else wants a place to start. http://www.langsom.com/bilder/jonas/a2_pattern.dwg also i dwg in the correct scale. very easy to work with(!)
Its not made from a deconstructed jacket, but Ive used tons of pictures of jackets with the correct measurements. This is a very small jacket though (around 38 S) so it does not have the same look of the big 46 etc jackets.

Oh wow! That is amazing. I think you could start making these as a side business if you wanted to. I need to get one of those made here in 'Nam. Can I find a good quality pattern in an easy to read file? I don't have the program to open a dwg on my computer.

very impressive! congratulations! and many thanks for sharing the pattern, even I will never be able to do one myself, I am terrible with a sewing needle... (and I am more 44-46 than 38)

Wear it with pride, not many people can wear a jacket they made themselves.

Heres a big version of the pattern if anyones interested.

If you were to work in autocad with the dwg and use this website to scale the pattern, http://www.acmedepot.com/a2jacket/measure.shtml , you should be able to easily make your own. Youll probably only need one test jacket(!) Far less than the three I needed in addition to six test sleeves.

Thanks for the kind words. Ive been lucky enough to get perfect weather to wear this in these days. So thats nice.
