Difference(s) between Montana crown western and 1911 Campaign hat

For the first time in a generation, I watched the 1946 motion picture "My Darling Clementine". Henry Fonda portrays Wyatt Earp, wearing a western hat with Montana crown. I estimate the hat's nearly flat brim as 3.5-4 inches per side. My Campaign hat also has a somewhat more sharply defined Montana crown, I think, with 3-inch brim. I perceive very little in common between the two hats when I isolate movie hat view next to my hat in hand.

Why? What differences combine to render such a large difference in perception. Please avoid difference between Henry Fonda and me.

You may be confusing the Montana crease with the Montana Peak. The Montana crease was the original name of what we now call the 'GUS.' The Montana Peak on the other hand, is the typical Campaign/Boy Scout hat with the 4 dents.
Fonda's style of hat in 'My Darling Clementine' is what is known as an 'Oreana' ...2 front dents & a mule kick in the rear. Costner's hat in 'Open Range' was a similar style.
Of course the nomenclature of hat creases isn't an exact science & creases change names through the decades & from region to region.

And the Montana Peak is not the same as the Campaign hat.

That crease is the Oreana, also known as the Montana Pinch with a mule kick in the back. I refurbished a couple of Westerns with that very crease.

That silverbelly is a beaut but I couldn’t pull off wearing that in a million years—well done, Terry!

A classic example of Hollywood making up their own fantasy version of American history, because they thought that no one would know better.

Here is a well documented historical image of Wyatt Earp from the "Dodge City Peace Commission" photo taken June 10, 1883, a couple of years after the shootout by the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ.
