Difference in Akubra hats

Is there any difference between an Akubra bought from David Morgan and one bought from OZ? Is the hat the same quality etc? I know the price is different because of exchange rate but i was told the ones from OZ didn't have liners and were differnt hats.

All of the hats I have purchased regardless of the source have liners, and for similar grade hats felt seems to be the same.

Read the specs, and if you have any questions call or e mail the supplier.

I ordered my first Banjo Patterson from Noggintops and cannot see any difference in quality from David Morgan, or Hats Direct.com, comparing 3 different styles in Heritage grade felt.

Yeah, I have one from David Morgan and two from Hats Direct, and they're all Imperial Quality with liners. You'll see differences in shipping prices and "model" availability. For example, the Sydney at DM is the same as the Fedora at Hats Direct. The Adventurer is the DM "Australia" fedora and the Federation is the Hats Direct "Australia" fedora. The brim widths of these are different and Hats Direct can get different colors, where as the DM Adventurer is one color.

But quality wise, the only difference is between the Imperial Felt vs Heritage Felt.

First: they are ALL Akubra hats, made by Akubra in Australia. As has been discussed here many times, David Morgan is the SOLE importer of Akubra's in the US and ALL US retailers get their hats from him. As to differences, There are certain models which he does not or cannot import (Campdraft for example he cannot) and some are named differently such as the Sydney ( it is the Fedora in OZ)as well as the Bushman which is exclusive to DM though is not sold in OZ anymore, and he does not always stock ALL colors of many styles as are sold in OZ. His Squatter's are blocked slightly different than the OZ models as well as NOT having the dimensionally cut brim of the OZ ones and from what I have seen, many of the OZ models are NOT sold with liners. (Australia is alot like Texas, it's hot here more than cold and custom is for many of their domestic market hats to be sold sans liners for ventilation purposes) He does not stock ALL colors available from the factory, and the names for the colors tends to be somewhat different depending on model and retailer, whether in OZ or the US. But the bottom line is THEY ARE ALL Akubra's, made in the same factory, by the same people, and are probably the BEST $ deal in a PRODUCTION made, ALL Fur felt hat made in the 21st century. Take your time, research which one you want, then order from whomever you feel will give you what you want,when you want it, at the price you want to pay ! I've owned Akubra's for over 30 years and will ALWAYS own an Akubra or 2 or 3
