Nerts! lol lol lol

Thank you for sharing this. I've always been intrigued by this topic. Didn't know about the original meaning of "bimbo". Very interesting.

One of my favorite slang words from this time is: "Don't take any wooden nickels." lol

Not just The 20's

I have noticed that even in the other decades after the 20's the vernacular was so "catching " things like " so's your old man" and one of my favorites " your ma wears combat boots" !

Even today the slang is nothing like it was back then .

Some of my favorites from the 30's are as follows , " solid sender " , " are you on the square" " solid jack ,mellow mack" " keep it on the Q.T." " hi ,ya toots " .

Speaking of the ladies things like this come to mind ,
"dame " , "dish" , "chick " , "peach" , "dreamboat " ( both sexes) . and "gay" actually meant feeling happy or having a "gay old time " as it were .
Now a days if you want to use slang you might have to use a vulgur word or swear.

Unlike earlier generations, the slang of the 30's on up are preserved to some degree in the movies of each era. I'm glad for that.
