I honestly think it does look pretty good on you! Especially if you consider it functional wear to me it does make sense that a warm/ lined jacket is a bit longer than a Type III. You also probably want to have some room to layer.

Just got home with mine and tried it on in front of the mirror. Damn thing looks like a cross between a Storm Rider and a trench coat. I really like the denim and the quilted lining in the arms is a nice touch, makes the jacket easy to slip on and off.
That length though...who the F did they make this for?

Guys, check out the last post on the jacket thread on IH forum - apparently, the jacket will shrink a great deal after the first machine wash.

Though, yeah... Looking at all this, I'm pretty sure my jacket will be too large. I've just remeasured all of my IH's. You can add at least 1" to every width measurement that's on Iron Heart site. Lee stated to be 21" P2P and mine is slightly over 22". For the 533, sherpa lined jacket, the site claims it to be 21.7" chest and it's 23".
So either they've started measuring right or my jacket will be going back, too. Should've listened to my gut instinct and grabbed a Small.

I just printed my return shipping label...super bummed man. To me they absolutely blew this patterns proportions. Anything over a large becomes a chore coat in length. Mrs. Ton had a decent belly laugh at it as well. Typically she'll humor me but if she laughs...it's NFG.

Shrinkage! No way. That’s why i never buy anything unsanfordized and appreciate IH one wash. I’m not taking a chance on shrinking to fit a $350pair of jeans or a $450 jacket.
Beyond that i have founftheir measurements to be quite accurate. 21 oz type III with UHF on this 42 degree morning.

Yeah I'm not of the mind that I want to throw 500 plus bones in the washing machine and hope it comes out fitting better. I'd be afraid of ruining the blanket that way too. If anything the vintage 18oz denim feels much more prone to stretch out over time. That only serves to exacerbate the already too largeness of it...

I think I could’ve lived with the long sleeves but the body length is too long by maybe 4-5 inches..
I modeled it for Mrs Boyo and she just laughed at me...nuff said

A shame, but this is one reason I would never put big money into stuff that's aimed at the deniomheads as opposed to true vintage repro. The proportions are too often all off - lowering the jackets to the point where it throws them off, simpyl to make them match against cray-low wasitband jeans seems often to be part of the problem.

I feel much the same. Throwing a lot of money into something that may or may not shrink to 'the right size', knowing that if I take that risk and it doesn't work I can't return it.... no, not for me.

I've noticed though that markedly overlong Type 3s seem to be all the rage with the fashion crowd now, particularly the ladies - I'm seeing them worn mid-thigh length here in London, which is just absurd!

What's odd is that the IH sizing model adds 1" or more of length (sleeve and back) incrementally up the size chart. The jackets seem to be fitted for folks 6'2" or taller when you get in the size XL and up. It's odd b/c that kind of lengthening doesn't occur, in Vanson for example, where the length increment is more like 1/4-1/2" up as you move through the size range. There is no way a storm rider should have a 27" back length to begin with in any size but when you add a 2" front drop...it gets REALLY messy.
The good news is that IH has a completely hassle free, super fast return and refund policy and they are always super helpful in this regard.

If that's not the way they're supposed to fit, I've been doing it all wrong. That looks great.
