The 'Pinkerton' hat and 'Have Gun Will Travel' hats from this site were the ones I was thinking of - flare crowns and you can have them in a beaver blend or 100% beaver if you prefer:

Quite a few of us have found and posted this site, but has anyone here ever ordered from it?

Depp's hat appears to have a 4" or 4-1/4" crown which makes me think of a Dressage hat (except for the ribbon treatment, of course), for example this one from Hornets Hats:

Not vintage, of course, and the flare isn't as pronounced, but it comes in wool or fur felt, in black or navy.
