This website was unknown to me until yesterday. Not your ordinary jacket featured on FL, but very stylish. Expensive, but we routinely shell out $1000 for horsehide or goatskin jackets, so why not sheepskin? Beautiful stuff and it'll keep you nice and toasty. Shortest version is 30", which is a good length for a utility winter jacket. Sheepskin jackets were popular in Sears and JC Penney Christmas catalogs in the 1960's (their version was faux).

Some nice stuff there, and the prices aren't bad for custom. I'd buy if it wasn't for import charges to the UK.

Question for those of you who own sheepskin jackets, a pleasure I am yet to experience myself

If factoring in 15mm thick sheepskin does that mean one should ordinarily look to size up? I'm a 40 inch chest and I'm wondering what sort of external pit to pit I should be looking at here.. not really sure how close these should fit tbh. Any advice will be well received. TIA

I have 2 Irvins,
Aero 42 at 24 p to p
Eastman 44 at 25 p to p
and two B-3s
Eastman 44 at 25 p to p
Eastman 46 at 26 p to p
I have a 42 chest, all fit well but differently. The Aero I can't layer much under, whereas the last Eastman I have plenty of room. I think I prefer the 46 fit the most if I'm honest. So to answer you question, yes going at least a size up is a good idea, at least that's what I've found.

If you mean a military jacket the sizing includes the shearling so you don't need to size up. Most people however prefer the military sheepskins to fit them a bit bigger than normal, I'm a 43 inch chest and I wear a 44 in a B-3, D-1 and ANJ-4, and a 46 in an Irvin. If you're getting a normal leather jacket with shearling added then I'd size up, unless it's been factored in already, like in the Aero Thunderbay.

Thanks guys. I was looking at one with a 22 pit to pit that supposedly is a 42. But if Dav's aero with 6inches of wiggle room is a bit tight then I fear that four for me would be too small. Probably is. After all, 22" across is what I expect from a regular 40 with no shearling. I wouldn't mind wearing it with just a t shirt under but even then I'm sceptical.. but maybe, just maybe it would work, damn it

I wouldn't say it was tight, I can wear a heavy shirt underneath, but a thick jumper is too much.
22 does sound tight to me for a sheepskin 42, I think you'd feel like a sausage with it done up with anything much else on.
