I have a question about your micro brewed hats Art.

Your new logo Rob made looks fantastic. I am wondering about the sweatbands.

Have you thought about putting a quality rating in your hats like they did in the old days?

royal
royal deluxe
imperial

special
really special
super special

good
gooder
goodest

I think going high tech would work too
version 1.0
version 2.0

that way you know the felt and year and as your production felt changes you can find out what works best, go back to 2.0 over a 3.0 version.

I like the 'Royal - Imperial' idea. Very Chrysler.

Or for the Streamliner, a railroad theme:

Don't break a sweat on this one

Art has had a stamp made that is used to emboss the leather. It is similar to the Optimo branding, but not with the gold leaf.

I personally prefer the intentation of the leather and not the gold leaf.

Art also has the ability (and so do I) to put your initials in the sweat with the perforated holes.

Neat!

How about a pic Art

Art?? Request, can you post a picture of what the sweat stamp looks like? And maybe the vintage machine you bought that stamps the leather? I forgot to do that at our last visit. (I know the show is this week..so maybe later next week?)

HI Matt et al

I like your ideas Matt but at the moment I intend to sign , date, and number every new hat I make on the inside of the leather. With the different grades of felts I anticipate being able to get i'll eventually be able to name the grades but for now I don't want to confuse the issue. I first need to prove my ability to a larger degree and let the hats talk for me. I'm a little afraid of getting into the mix with the big boys and getting lost in the shuffle of commercialism without sufficiant reputation. If my hats sell I hope to sell them simply because they are from my hands and not by some fancy promo. I don't quite know how to explain it, but somehow that way feels more lasting to me.
I'll try to get pics of my leathers this week. They are top notch leather and I'm proud of them. My logos for the liners should be done next week also as the printer had some trouble printing them and were delayed. I was expecting the felts last week but they didn't show so hopefully this week.
It all seems to be coming together but much too slowly for my taste. In the mean time i am working the Vintage Show this weekend and today was a blast. Jp, AJ, Fedoralover & wives all stopped in at the show and i even enlisted Fedoralover's help for unloading the trailor on Monday so...life is good!!!
I'll check in again early next week & let you know how it's going, for now...g'nite!!
