Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

Alright, alright... Let me correct my post, I don't want to offend the purists amongst the loungers...

The jacket it's NOT a true Cafe Racer, that's just how Aero calls it on the order form.

It is NOT Tea Core, just black CXFQHH with maybe or maybe not brown underneath that may or may not show with wear. Time will tell.

I DO like hand warmer pockets, they come in very handy (excuse the pun).

I DON'T like zippers in such pockets, I find them annoying even though they're practical. I don't ride motorcycles now so I'll just be careful not to lose whatever I put in them and try not to abuse them to avoid deforming them.

I like mandarin collars, I actually have a brown-ish Schott 654 casual racer and a vintage Kehoe black cafe racer, both with mandarin collars. I wear them a lot.
I just wanted something different and the Aero Sheene is one of my favourite models from Aero, that's why I ordered it...

Order how you freakin' like, @Fonzie! I think some of us have just experienced trying to do too much on one piece and have gone a simpler route. With the good crew back in place at Aero, I'm sure it's gonna be killer!!!

I LOVE handwarmer pockets and I keep my hands always there - it is nice and warm there. I've been doing this with all my jackets, MA-1's, NB-3's, peacoats, aeros, schotts, etc. Zippers in handwarmer pockets mean one thing, at least for the non-rider: scratches and wounds in your hands (or wrist watches!) especially during winter!
Damn, I need to order another jacket.

Hey, don't take my posts too seriously I try to inject a little humour into the world of leather jackets. They are just things to wear, ok they look cool and can cost a bomb, we also don't all necessarily agree on a particular design.
I have said it before, I think there is too much information on a piece of leather and folks now take it far too seriously on the technical aspects of the raw materials before ordering, when back in the pre internet days they would have been perfectly happy with their Veg tanned front quarter horse jacket, without even knowing what veg tanned or chrome tanned meant.
And finally. While on the subject of Cafe racers lets keep it Cafe and not Café. No biker ever raced from Starbucks to Costa, but rather after downing a tea and a bacon sandwich at Johnson's on the A20 then blast off with mates to the Ace on the 406 or the Busy Bee near Watford, then down another tea(or frothy coffee in the 1960s ).
As for Aero naming their jacket a Cafe Racer, I wouldn't care what it was called if I liked the design. Enjoy your jacket, it sounds great, and when you get it lets see some pics

Things I had never heard of before the internet when buying old or new leather jackets.
Chrome tanned, veg tanned, top grain, tea core(thats a new one to me), the term "help me choose a jacket" Cafe racer(jackets), Lancer(jackets). We just bought them and enjoyed them.
As for vintage jackets, personally I don't remember anyone discussing contract numbers for military styles though this can indicate a fit in a modern replica garment, maybe makers names but thats about all. I suppose with the internet and auction sites etc all the most interesting jackets have been snapped up so now it has gone onto how rare this or that maker is, even if there is no interesting history present. And that can go for civvi jackets too.

lol I was just kidding, man. Sheen is good. It's tough to get that perfect fit out of many collared models, it's understandable why people want an Aero CR fit with a collar. If I ever went for another HWM, I'd just order CR with HWM details. Or the Premium one.

It's going to be awesome @Fonzie. Can't wait to see the finished product. I love the Sheene and the seven all those collared CR's. Many of us will be gleefully living vicariously thru your thread once it arrives!

Hi Craig, did you hear that from the Front Quarter Horse's mouth I heard a similar story about him but not that drastic.
I have seen bit's of A2 framed and a few full jackets turned up in the 80s. But how on earth do you tell a bit of a military jacket from any other 70 year old(40 years then) horse hide jacket if it is only the piece with the patch on.
I was once given an 8th patch on a piece of goat that came from an A2. How did I know this? It came from a friend whom was wearing the rest of the jacket, minus the arms, as a cut off! But it was a rather poor example of an A2 and had spent years in a damp garage belonging to a member of a well known bike club in the East Anglia area.

I did indeed. Apparently, Chrissy Hynde is the one of the most miserable pop stars on this planet. I just despair that somebody could look at what would have been relatively mint A-2s - they'd only be 30-odd years old at this point - and just slash them up that way.
