On Instagram they said £100 upcharge for Badalassi. They also said weight wise is closer to Vicenza than CXL.

I’d be very interested in handling this leather. It’s very likely a bespoke hide for Aero given that as far as I know Badalassi leather is primarily for belts and bags and sometimes shoes.

Yeah I’ve seen it on boots and belts. But not jackets. So in the one FB post I saw from aero they talked about having tried multiple versions and have it sent to someplace else to toy with before they got it right. So Sounds like their versions will be unique compared to other companies who might jump in the Badlassi jacket game now.

Would like other high level makers use Badalassi leather more widely in their patterns. To my taste it's at least on par with Shinki. That's a bit strange that other makers don't use Badalassi nowadays on a regular basis.

According to a Ken's post in the VLJ forum: "Earlier this year we had all our remaining stocks of leather "reworked" by a british tannery. The results were spectacular."

Japanese makers have been using Badalassi hides to make jackets for quite a few years now. Thedi started using them almost a year ago as well. It isn't really new... just new to the forum here as a whole.

BK has been using Badalassi for years, as have various japanese makers. Still, the hide Aero uses may be a stand-out; don't know in what way precisely they have it reworked. I'm guessing shaved thinner and tumbled though. All Badalassi I have handled so far was fairly thick hide and very stiff.

It's not new obviously, moreover - it was sadly discontinued by some makers nowadays, which was a big mistake from those makers I suppose.
As for japanese option - well, japanese makers are quite specific considering their pricing and patterns measurements. Sometimes make interesting jackets though.

As far as I know they aren't too thick either, knowing Thedi, they most likely did some work on the hide to get the right feel. I have been planning to get something in the red hide for quite a while now, still working out what type and style of jacket

I like that rich juicy tan colored one from the right on the photo above, Theodoros makes spectacular jackets indeed. Though, I'd prefer original thickness of Badalassi cowhide, am not a big fan of lightweighted versions of Badalassi. Midweight/lightweight ("reworked") versions of Badalassi might be great for A-2 and A-1 jackets, but for MC jackets (cross-zipped and HB ones) I do like original Badalassi cowhide most.

So what would you go for? A half-belt or a cross zip? Since you like it, you might as well start thinking it through as well
