Crumple or Hang?

Hi All,
I have 11 leather jackets - all of which I consider valuable to me (though some were cheap to buy and none were very expensive). Some of them I hang in the wardrobe on suitable hangers (taking some care that the hem/ bottom zip parts are lined up!).... whilst some I crumple up and fling onto the bottom of the wardrobe.
Are you a "hanger upper" or a "crumpler"? Or maybe, like me, some are hung and others crumpled!

Back of chairs or crumple. I've got most of them lying on a sofa. I have only two decent hangers so they're all over the place. Plus I switch them often and I'm too lazy to put them back on a hanger each time.

For the “crumplers,” aren’t you concerned about getting unnatural creases in your jackets? I often see complaints from buyers of used jackets that have obvious creases from lying in a pile.

always on a hanger, I dislike random creases. older broken in jackets is less sensitive to creases because They already soft and trained to favor existing creases, so to be just thrown on a sofa or on the bed won't make random creases, but crisp new jacket they are more likely to make random creases and then it will never completely go away and affect further natural creases to form across it, I always put crisp leather on a good hanger, but I have very small number of jackets and I buy hanger in preparation whenever I order a new jacket.

That only happens when the jackets are tightly crumpled together inside a box - or indeed, piled up one on top of another in such volume that the ones on the bottom are getting squished - but otherwise no, they won't develop any creases or anything like that from simply lying around. They're not nearly heavy enough.

I agree, the same thing can happen to hanging jackets if you pack them to tight in the wardrobe.
I have a 50/50 split, 10 or so in the wardrobe hanging on wide hangers, and 9 or 10 live on the couch in piles of 3 or 4. More than that and the bottom one gets creased up. I keep the nicer ones hung and the less ones/ most used on the couch.

All my jackets: denim, leather, waxed cotton, are all hanging on coat hooks in our front porch. Same as all the coats for the rest of my family.

Unless they're completely out-of-season unwearable, in which case they're stored on chunky hangers on a rail in our spare bedroom.

I couldn't care less about babying my jackets, and just use/abuse them without much thought.

I hang mine on the pool-noodle modified hangers.

I don't have enough room in my closets for 15 peacoats and the same number of leather jackets, plus a bunch of work and rain jackets, so by necessity some of my leather jackets live on the floor. I don't crumple them though. I try to keep them relatively straight and don't stack too many of them on top of each other so they don't get creases. Never had a problem with creases.

All of my peacoats and the leather jackets that are on hangers, are on the nice wide shoulder hangers that are advertised here on the Hanger Project. But I didn't pay $25 for them. Walgreens had the same thing for $5. I bought all they had.

All of my jackets are on hangers modified with pipe insulation. For my leather jackets, I use both traditional angled suit hangers and wide straight top hangers depending on which works better for each individual jacket.

I am surprised by the number of people who sprawl their jackets throughout their residence. To each his own, but I would not want to live with jackets cluttering up my home, furniture and/or floors. No criticism -- just personal preference.

I am surprised by the number of people who sprawl their jackets throughout their residence. To each his own, but I would not want to live with jackets cluttering up my home, furniture and/or floors. No criticism -- just personal preference.

ALSO, my wife would not allow "jackets cluttering up the home, furniture and/or floors" even if I could tolerate it myself.

I don't crumple them or throw them around. Mine are either on wide wooden hangers in the walk in closet or a few that I wear more often neatly laid across a bedroom chair. The new jacket that I just received is resting on a hassock in the family room where I can easily grab it on the way out the door.

I use wooden coat hangers for all my jackets though I have more than one jacket on some of the hangers.

yeah I too sometime put lighter jacket under the heavier one on the same wooden hanger when needed. I'm very tempted to buy a headless bust mannequin with stander for the most worn jacket and put a lamp on top use it as room decoration but if left unattended, I'm afraid my cat would do unthinkable damage to it.

Hangers, tucked away on dining room chair or tucked behind the trouser press in the bedroom. If they've been packed away for the season, they go into zipper bags and boxed on top of the wardrobe.
