Coronado Leather/Other recommendations?

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great Christmas Eve- I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with Coronado leather jackets, such as their leather quality or fit?

I have been eying their G1 flight jacket- as well as their No. 69 Union. I currently have a new RuggedWest Teacore stockman in a size 42 which I thought would be my forever jacket, although unfortunately isn’t the perfect fit for me and hope to find a new home for it sometime soon. Currently seeking any other alternative/recommendations!

I wouldn’t buy Coronado or Rugged West, their quality is in a similar ballpark. If I were in the market for a G1 repro, I’d get Flight Suit Ltd. or Gibson & Barnes for about $150-$300.
Thank you for the recommendations! I will look them up right away- do you also have any knowledge of Cockpit USA, or FiveStar Leather?

I have a horsehide belt from them, high quality.
The only gripe I have with their jackets is the backs are multi-pieced.
Does multi-pieced back compromise the leather durability? Or is it affecting the appearance of the grain

There's a whole thread on Five-Star on here.

Please do some searches - most of what you have asked has been addressed in multiple existing threads.

And you know this because you have jackets from both manufacturers?

No. With many jackets, it's part of the design. Trucker jackets, for example, my Lewis leather jackets, many half belts, etc.
If I like a jacket, I wouldn't care whether it was a single piece or not.

And yet again he has deleted all of his posts in the thread. Seriously @jchance, if you don’t mean it then just don’t post it in the first place. And if you do mean it then leave what you wrote. The phantom snippets of your dubious deleted posts that are caught in other members quotes just makes you look like a man who has lost his way.

Yes, that kind of behavior is super poor. And when it's pointed out to him, he reacts defiantly like a little child.

I was quite surprised to his aversion to RuggedWest- I found their quality to be very nice. Beautiful stitching, and Leilah ensured to use the finest Teacore I’ve ever seen.

Mainly because I think he's never held one before (I'm just guessing here). But whatever, some people are just weird.
To each their own, I suppose.

Out of curiosity, what brands do you personally recommend beyond RuggedWest? Secondly- is quality determined based off of the thickness of the hide? I have been seeing certain jackets at 1mm and 1.3mm but don’t quite understand whether that is good or not great.

I don't know enough to recommend anything. I can only say what I like. And since most of my jackets are from Aero, I'll say that I like them a lot. The leather is good, the workmanship is good, and they fit me well.

I also wanted a Vanson, but the communication didn't work out. I probably had too many questions.

I also have two jackets from Lewis Leather made of veg-tanned sheepskin. I think the leather is great, but I only really liked the jackets after I had them adjusted a bit.

I don't think the thickness of the leather says anything about its quality.
I've had very thick leather that was poor quality and very good leather that was thinner (e.g., Comipel unfinished HH).
I used to think that the thicker the better. But in fact, thick leather is only comfortable if it's really soft. Now I prefer medium-thick leather. Very thin leather is often too flimsy for me.

My favorites are Horween CXSH and Vicenza. Badalassi is beautiful, but loud and still quite stiff. At least the batch I have is.
The leathers from RW are mediocre. They are comfortable to wear because they are soft, but they don't come close to the leathers from Aero.
The veg tan sheep is also great. Actually, it's the most comfortable to wear.
