Hi all,
Selling my McGregor leather/wool shawl collar sweater in size 40. I'm trimming down my wardrobe at the moment and this guy doesn't get much wear.
McGregor Sportswear or McGregor-Doniger was formed in 1921 by David D. Doniger. David imported his first line of clothing from Scotland hence the name McGregor. The company mostly made clothes for boys and men. They did start a women's line in 1963, but was discontinued due to low sales in 1968. The company had their run til the late 70s when they were purchased by Rapid American in 1977. It continued operations throughout the 80s and 90s and ceased to exist as of now. Apparently, they made the infamous red nylon jacket for James Dean in the movie Rebel Without A Cause - The McGregor Anti-Freeze.
Although this jacket has a tag size 40, but it fits like a 42. Short and roomy with a broad shoulders. The condition is excellent with no holes or tears on the wool and leather. The sheepskin is soft to the touch. It's unbelievable that the leather lasted this long in this immaculate state. The lining is still intact. I don't know when this jacket was made, but if I have to guess, probably the late 30s to 40s based on the style and cut.
Now, I did replace all the buttons because the jacket didn't have all of its original ones. I also put smaller buttons in the back to act as the anchors for the button shanks. These will hold the front buttons nice and tight when you button the jacket.
I'm asking $275USD shipped CAN/USA via PayPal FF. I've bought and sold stuff here before so no worries on that front. But if you need references, I can certainly provide.
Here are the measurements:
P2P - 22"
Back length - 23"
Shoulders - 20.5"
Sleeves - 24"
