CLASS OF 1941 PRINCETON UNIVERSITY TIES!
The original owners of these ties are long gone; someone who graduated in the Class of '41 would likely have been born in 1919, and, having missed the First World War, would likely have taken part in the Second.
And survived, if they lived to own these ties!
A) Emblematic tie. Featuring the Class of '41 emblem--a Princeton tiger wearing a US Army helmet, clutching a club in one hand and a book in the other. The tiger is astride the globe.... which is represented as Germany's WWII-era leader in profile, with a fuse about to blow him up!
This is a sadly prophetic emblem: six months after this Class graduated Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, and then Germany declared war on the USA.
This tie likely dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s, and was produced for a reunion. It is 80% polyester and 20% silk, and measures 3 1/4". It is in Very Good condition. Asking just $29, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA.
B) Regimental tie. In Princeton's colours of black and orange, this is a classic regimental tie with "1941" bold on the front. This is all silk, and likely dates from the 1970s. It was produced for a reunion. It measures 4", and is in Very Good condition. Asking just $35, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA.
