Chester Cordite - anyone had experience with them?

I came across this company a while ago. Their stuff looks pretty good, although there are a few details I'm not a fan of (belt loops etc. and I'm not sure about the trouser rise) and the price isn't too bad. Has anyone had one of their suits before? I've emailed them and they only seem to sell off-the-rack, which isn't ideal for me being a funny body shape, but I guess I could do some home tailoring.

I'd say the DB suits looks better than the SB (I'm seeing a hint of 1970s there) but overall they look very nice and with a decent amount of attention-to-detail. I'm tempted, I must admit (although I'll still need to save up considerably!)

They don't have a lot in stock, and had a lot more about a month ago (the fellow I talked to via email said they order in batches, hence being unable to take requests) but the gallery has a lot of stuff.

Hbk - Yes I know what you mean. The pleats are a sticking point for me too.

and I quite like them. They were roundly dismissed in a thread here a while back but I thought I'd give them a go and make up my own mind. I very much like the fabric on the sage green suit and I wear the DB jacket quite a lot - lovely with cream flannels.

Not being a 100% vintage accuracy type of dresser,
I am happy if the quality and fit of the garment are good, if the cut is classic/vintage and the design exhibits some boldness.
I too quite like the look of the db sport coat.
Is there any chance you could post a photo of yourself wearing it? I'd be curious to see an alternative photo.

The Gallery on the site has some great photos of their range and some of their inspiration. I'd never heard of this company, so thank you Eddie for bringing it up. I think the next suit I buy shall be one of theirs.

They do look rather good don't they! Although taking HBK's point, they are perhaps a bit outside of my preference for British styles. But to be honest, for an off-the-rack suit, with vintage-inspired details, they're not a bad price! You could get a really boring modern suit from a high-street outfitters for similar money.

The lapels look great on the double breasted jackets - but I find them a bit overwhelming on the single breasted ones. I also don't like the combo of a high closing vest and low V on the jacket. Reminds me of a late 40's Burton suit I own.

I get what you mean - they throw the balance right out. Looking closer, I also don't think they're getting the waistcoats right either - like so many repro places.

Well, thank you very much.

Cream flannels from Spencer's Trousers in Yorkshire. Made to my specs - wide leg, high waist, fly and brace buttons etc. It took a few goes but now they have my pattern on file.
Loake's Woodstock shoes.
Cream custom cap from Monsivais Caps. Made to a 1920's pattern from vintage wool.
1930's Palm Beach cloth tie.
Modern pin collar shirt from The Savile Row Company. Vintage Swank collar pin.
