MORE PICTURES, PLEASE! I am also thinking of purchasing a chatham. Anyone had one for an extended period of time (2 yrs +) how's it holding up?

Well, I can address the pictures part. I've only had one for about a year and haven't worn it a lot due to "so many hats, only one head". Here's mine in Caribou color, after I made some tweaks:

This and next shot are details of my altered crown shape. I got tired of seeing that perfect C-crown and used some steam to easily make it more of a diamond - which also served to bring the sides of the hat out a touch as viewed from the front, so it has a little less taper than stock.

Here's the profile after I steamed and lowered the back of the brim so it doesn't flip up as much. I do this to a lot of my snap brims.

Here I am sportin' the thing. I think it looked better on the pumpkin!

Hey Gene - that's a nice job re-bashing the Chatham. I like a flatter brim myself, it's good to know it works so well. The diamond looks nice and vintage too - maybe I'll try a pentagonal bash in mine someday....

I've been through a few hats, and the Chatham is what I keep coming back to. It's got a great look without fighting for center stage, and it's simpatico with just about everything I wear.

After a few outings in the rain, the brim can get a bit wavy in the back, but I bought a flange and give it a quick once-over with a hot iron when I think I need to look a bit more respectable - it slaps right back into shape and feels darn close to new when I slip it on.

I'm thinking about a Panama, which I need to ask all of you about, but the Chatham is my long-term lid.

Hey Mike - I've told quite a few people about the Stetson Retro straw, which is proportioned like the Chatham, and the price is definitely right. I am sad to say I can't buy one as it doesn't come in XXL. It's worth a look as a starter straw until you decide on a really good one.

Best price I've seen on the Stetson Retro is here at Falkoff's (Thanks to Rick Blaine for the link) This is where I got mine. Very fast shipping & I love the hat.

Carldelo, G.I. Joe,

Thanks for the links. That's a fine looking hat, and if I can figure out what they do about international shipping, I'll buy one!

My Caribou (gray) Chatham arrived Friday. & I really like it except ( you knew there'd be an 'except') for the sweatband. I don't know what it is made out of but I'm pretty sure it never said 'Moo'. Just wearing it for a few minutes gives me the old slick forehead.

Need so many Nauggas die to satisfy our vanity? lol

Anyone else have this issue?
