ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard dies at 77 in hospice care

The band played its first show without him Saturday in Austin. Billy Gibbons said Beard picked his own replacement.

Never seen that photo. Great find!

I came acros ZZT as a young teen during their "Afterburner" phase. While I appreciated some of the songs back then due to lack of any sense of musical taste. I filed them under "Aging 80´s nonsense". It was only ten years or so back when I discovered their early works and realized the magic they did to bluesrock.

(I can still listen to "Rough Boy" and get goosebumps.)

Very. Lead singer / vocalist in US punk band Social Distortion, est 1978. The one thing you might possibly have heard of theirs unawares is their cover of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues. AFAIK, it's the original punk-cover of that number.

Anyone know what brand or type Tom is wearing.. Looks more like a SB klondike

I am very lucky to still have my grandfather‘s 60s/70sblack leather car coat that looks almost identical! I used to wear it all the time in the city, and I would get random guys in fashion forecasters coming up to me saying they would give me some serious cash for the jacket. I said hell no, you gotta be joking me, I’m not parting with my grandfather’s jacket. That I actually have photos of us together while he was wearing it and I was just a little dude wearing my cool green Alpha Industries winter jacket when I was only three years old. Something money can’t buy!
