it kinda looks like it could be a California surfer souvineer? they look like little surf boards?

looks 1960's - 1970 era

or possibly a souvineer from HAWAII

They look like souveniers (sp?) from some island. My mom has a few from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Mexico and yes Hawaii that kind of look like that. If I remember, I'll try to take pictures of them when I'm irritating her tomorrow.

Yes, I suspect it's just a kischy souvenier. I think they're made in Japan, my other one has a Japan label on it...

I agree, they do look like a souvenier of some sort from a tropical place. I was recently in Belize and Mexico and saw similar items for sale at the flea markets. Of course, they weren't vintage, but they look like they were of the same idea.

It is a xylophone, and the parents are embarrassed at the fact that their kid is musically challenged.

My Grandmother had them in her china cabinet when I was little. She used to travel in the 50's and early 60's. I believe they are from Jamaica.
