Can Anyone suggest a travel jacket?

Hello. Can anyone suggest a good lightweight travel jacket? I am looking at the Beretta Safari jacket as an option. I would like lots of pockets, but not too many pockets to where I can't find anything. Thanks in advance.

It depends where and when you are going.

As Hemingway suggested, it also depends on how dressy you want to be.

For informal trips, especially to Africa, I like the Orvis Rhinohide jacket. For a dressier look, I use the TravelSmith "Absolutely Wrinkle Free" Blazer. For trips to Iraq and Afghanistan, I tend toward something with kevlar plates!

Look at the Tilley travel jackets on their website (tilley.com), particularly the Different Drummer Legends Expedition Jacket. They list several styles of jackets on their website. I have several Tilley hats which are the very best. If I traveled more than I do, I would have my complete travel wardrobe from Tilleys.

I bought a Willis & Geiger travel/sports jacket on ebay. Tan canvas, mesh liner, leather trim, bi-swing back, gusset under arms with vent grommets, and loads of pockets inside and out. I've seen similar ones available at Orvis and Duluth Trading. Duluth trading calls it a presentation jacket.

All excellent suggestions! I really like the Tilleys, but they are probably a bit over my price range.

I saw a jacket by Woolrich Elite they called the Algerian Field jacket which looks promising. Has anyone seen one of these in person to comment?
