I'm fairly a rookie when it comes to actually buying vintage clothing. Can anyone confirm that this bomber is from the 1940s? If so, early/late 40s?

The earliest this jacket could be based on the fact that Quilon was used is 1949. That is the earliest that component was used in commerce.

I found this information on the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) at this link: http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/workflow/start.htm

There were two records brought up. The first record says that Quilon was first used in commerce in 1954. The second record that it brought up said that the first time it was used in commerce was in 1949. Here is the information on the first and second record:
