Hi there Ohyolandie and welcome to the Lounge.

I can tell you it's a Derby or what the Brits call a Bowler. I'm not sure of the maker - Walbrook and Co - but this place is so full of experts that one is bound to come leaping forward with some information.
Can you take some photos of the inside? It will help with dating.

Though I can tell you that Angus R Walbrook & Co Ltd, 99 Tanner St, Bermondsey, London SE1, were operating in 1933. Not sure if this is the same company.

G'day again Yolandie.

I'm no expert on Bowlers but I've passed on your request to a bunch of Bowler/Derby lovers from around these parts and perhaps one of them will have some ideas for you.

In the meantime, tell us what you know about the hat, like where did you get it? Do you know who it belonged to and when they got it? Anything at all might help.

Hello There!

Okay here's what I know about this hat that might help.

I believe the wearer of the Bowler to be John B. Reynolds, who was married to Kathleen M Reynolds. I have a couture dress that I believe she wore and I know for sure her dressmaker was born in England in 1840- I looked up her stamp and name which was inside the gown. In 1870 she resided in San Francisco (the dressmaker) and was still a dressmaker at that time.. I'm still trying to put it all together, but having lots of fun in the process.

Reynolds family resided in Los Angeles Ca in Beverlywood 90035, when I acquired these and other pieces.

Thanx again!
