Any thoughts on where you could buy a different leather band for it?
I don't know of a place specifically for bands, but I assume that any skilled leather craftsperson could make a band to your specifications.

I had one of these for years & it served me well. I just recently cleaned it up & gave it to my brother inlaw. The brim at 2 1/2 is just too stingy for me. He loves it. The brim did waffle a bit from rain use but a good steam ironing straightened right out. These are very close to what LLBean sold as Moose River hats.

Mine arrived today. Seems to be a pretty decent hat. The crown could be a little taller, but it's pretty straight. Not a bad hat at all for $70. Heck, I think the band that came on it looks good enough to keep.

BobC, it looks great on you! Next time you post a photo, however, I think you should lose the tie and strap on a sidearm - brings out the gun in Gun Club.

I always kind of liked this hat, but never liked the price. I imagine the sizes are based on current stock, because I've seen a 7 5/8 in person just recently. For $70, not bad. Maybe it's time.

Well it looked so good on you BobC that I just made the call and purchased one in sage. I like a low crown and your photos look better than the Cabela's website. Being in Canada I have to suffer a little extra with additional shipping and brokerage fees so I hope I got the sizing right.

I'm right there with you, NB. I wouldn't have paid $130 for it, but for $70 it's a respectable deal. $130 is almost half an Art Fawcett or a Buckaroo, and it surely isn't in that league. Congrats to you by the way.

Duper, I don't know how much it'll cost you to get it to Canada, but it was $85 and change to get it to IL including tax and shipping.

Well, I can't pass up a good deal

You all talked me into it. I ordered one in walnut. I had considered getting one at full price a while back, so this was a slam dunk for me. [huh]

Well mine arrived yesterday. It is WWAAYY to big. Funny, I have a number of other hats that are marked as 58, or a 7 1/4 or a LARGE and they do me fine. [huh] Oh well, I will return it shortly. For BobC, my final charge was $98.00 US with the addional handling fees. Glad it worked out for others.
