Can someone please let me know what is the difference between FQHH CXL and tumbled FQHH CXL? Is the tumbled one easier to break in and not as stiff or heavy as the FQHH

It´s pre-broken in, because the quite literally tumble it for a few hours.

This is strictly personal taste, of course, but I am surprised how many people seem to like tumbled HH. To my eye it looks a bit unnaturally in that it is broken in all the way through. If you tame your CXL HH with natural wear it will break in in the arm quite easily, in the torso not so much.

If you don´t want the armor-like qualities of new CXL HH, tumbled may be the way to go, though. That said, Badalassi is pretty pliable from the start too.

I would definitely like my bootlegger to be in a thick leather. I am not sure the bootlegger pattern would look good in thin leathers. I was looking forward to the badalassi but I would definitely not get it if its squeaky. So I guess the options before me are CXL, jerky and vic. Can I as Thurston to ask Aero to use thick vic? Is that even an option?

Definitely ask them to choose select the hide you want from what they have in stock. I ordered a blackened brown Vic, and Julie suggested I specify ‘extra grainy’ after looking in their stock room.

Cons: SQUEAKY.

Never had badlassi but hear it’s noisy. That bothers me a little. It’s a beautiful leather but I don’t want a symphony out of my armpit.

The patina will come through and the squeak will be gone.

When new it makes you sound like a new squeaky leather sofa. It does eventually start to quieten down but not sure it'll ever be completely silent!

I am really surprised The Fedora Lounge has not solved the SQUEAKY leather issue. LOL.

I have a heavy CXL horsehide jacket from JL. It is pretty darn noisy, and I would call it annoying, almost embarrassing. I have over 200 hours of wear time on it, and it is still obnoxious. It might have toned down a bit, but it is hard to say. It quieted briefly after I applied some conditioner, but the noise returned after about a month.

My Schott 618HH was pretty noisy at first, then it quieted down to a tolerable level. I was hoping my CXL would do the same, to no avail. I am not sure if time and wear will quiet some hides like Badalassi. Be aware, some CXL fqhh has been mentioned as noise violators.

I am team Horween CXL horsehide. I love the hide. Takes some time and dedication to break in at first, but well worth it in the end. I just wish one of the Fedora Lounge MASTERS would solve the noise riddle already. lol.

Awesome leather that squeak is like a hot girl who farts, loudly, in public. We either put up with the loud farts or get her to change to less gassy foods. I’ve got nothing….
