"Costume", or "uniform"? I suppose it depends on the wearer's mindset, but I've known people who treated their daily wear as one or the other; "costume" to the goofy types, "uniform" to those who took their "presentation" and demeanor more seriously. My own definition tends to change from day to day, depending on my mood when I wake and/or what I need to accomplish that day....I must confess that, for a long time, my beaten-up safari jacket was pretty much my signature item of clothing. Usually with jeans and a normal shirt...Was it a role play costume? I suppose it was. But everyone puts on a costume every day, saying a wide variety of things. And in my case my life eventually grew into the costume, at least to a small degree (which was enough for me.) So, yes, it was a costume..."
