Bruckner and Meister 1937

First of all what country of origin is this from?

This 3 piece suit was made by Bruckner and Meister in 1937.

Great dark brown leaning to plum herringbone cloth with duo color pinstripes, the vest is made of 4 different parts and a call from older tailoring techniques

Ill post some soon. After looking up the definition on Google, it came up with it being German.

whoa, the cut of the waistcoat is quite interesting, i've never seen one with that curved center front seam that early

Beautiful.

The names are definitely German, but without photos of the label and details of the interior and pant waist construction one can't say for sure. They could have been German speaking immigrants.

That cut is not modern but actually late 1800s construction methods

lovely suit. is it a keeper or a seller ?

Im a 42 R and it fits Like a glove.
The slacks however are a 34 and Im a 36.
The selvedge has a tear that prevents them from being let loose so if I don[t loose those few pounds i wont be able to wear it complete.
But At the moment I don[t have the heart to sell it.

Got to loose a few pounds!

[Two Types]

I was going to say German - the waistcoat buttons appear to have the bowl shape associated with German suits.

Yup - and it's now returning home to Germany.

The pants shared the sad fate of many German 30's suits: tapered down during the 50's to narrow 9 inches and the excess cut off.
Also the cuffs were apparently turned in.

I will gently let out the legs to 10.5 inches and make faux cuffs.

Thanks Damian! Is this the suit from the Boardwalk Empire lot you mentioned?

BTW... the rather modest lapels as late as 1937 certainly indicate a rather conservative owner sticking with older styles.

It's a British suit with high brace trousers
