Ran across this surfing my three favorite UK news sites. It's a singer named Pete Doherty facing legal troubles. I like his hat.

Anyone can wear a stingy brim like that and get away with it.

A wide brim like the one above takes style :p

Pete Doherty, singer of Babyshambles and enfant terrible, is most famous for `stingy' trilby hats, like on this picture:

<snip>

He rarely appears bareheaded. It is because of celebrities like him that the hat is becoming popular again...

Yes, and don't you just HATE that?

I like Kate's hat. The puggaree not as much. Or the flower. Nice light, trim fedora with a pleasant brim width. Some wouldn't like the short, tapery crown, but I don't mind it. Too many BCF hats will do that to you.

The eejit might yet serve some useful purpose, then. (I liked the Libertines, but his Babyshambles work is pretentious, and only slightly less tedious than the whole 'look at me, I'm so rock and roll and tragic and doomed' schtick).

Yes, indeed, wearing a hat and pretending to be a junkie (i don't believe for a second that he's anything more than a recreational user; but he's a great actor and has a very good make-up artist) sells records and gets the kids into hats . . .

I've not heard this take on it before.... Certainly, I've wondered myself how he can still afford a Jag and sin't much more financially destitute if he's the drug fiend he is portrayed as. While trying not to be judgmental, I'm not sure who I find more pitiable - him seemingly thinknig this is a glamourous way to live, or Moss who for so long seems to have thought it glamourous to be associated with that.
