This Friday's BTF is a colorful number from Croft and Barrows.

Coming back from the cancer ward all depressed after visiting a friend, and came across the final day of a rummage sale. One of the tables had only two items left on it ... a vintage cherry red bow tie and an early edition of Joyce's Ulysses. 50 cents each. Wearing the tie today and changing my avatar to show it.

This Friday's bow-tie-ness. (Where's all the other Bow Tie Guys? This has devolved into one fella's hobby horse.)

I wear bows often, but I never think to post in here.... mostly I only post my photos to the "what are you wearing today" thread. I should remember in here. I need to hit most of my bows with spray starch, really (should work fine for woven silk, no?) - some of them are getting a bit too floppy, I like more body in them to hold thier shape....

I do like this pairing of a bow with a button down collar. I know it really makes no practical difference, but to me it somehow feels like the bow is that bit more secure, somehow. All the hatches battened down!

I've somehow managed to not notice this thread before today. Since college back in the early '80s, I've wished I was one of those men who could "pull off" wearing a bow tie. One day a couple of weeks ago, I saw some on clearance at Belks and thought "certainly I'm too old to care what anyone thinks anymore". Since that evening, anytime I've not been in uniform, I've been wearing a bowtie. I'm up to 5 so far. (All of them new, but I've only just started searching) Here is one of my favorites, a Diamond Point made of suiting wool, from The Tie Bar.
